Salvaging Motorcycles - Turn A Hobby Into A Career

by Sarah Freeland

Are you sick of your job? Do you spend all day in your cubicle waiting to get home and work on your motorcycles? Why not look into salvaging motorcycles as a career? Many people with a passion for motorcycles have done it. If you've already got the knack for fixing bikes, you could be one of those people.

The first step in making a career out of salvaging motorcycles is learning all you can. You probably already have experience doing it on a hobby level, but you should still brush up on the specifics. If you have some books on motorcycles already, you should dust them off. If not, try your local library for motorcycle books. You can also look online. Do your studying and you'll increase your chances of being successful.

The next step in learning to salvage motorcycles for a living is to decide what your financial needs are. The studying end was easy to do while still keeping your day job, but can you keep up with it while working on motorcycles in the rest of your free time? Do you have the option of quitting your job to focus on it full time? Only you know what the possibilities for your situation really are.

The next step in becoming a professional at salvaging motorcycles is to start acquiring projects. Always keep your eyes open for bikes that can be fixed up. With your first projects, you should consider keeping the repairs to a minimum. This way you won't get in over your head too quickly. When you shop for bikes, be realistic about what types of models you are able to restore.

If you aren't making the money you'd like to right away, consider taking in repairs too. You can advertise by word of mouth to friends or online. Consider starting up a website to let people know what you do. Doing this even part-time can help to keep you on your feet while your getting your new business up and going.

Ducati Desmosedici vs Ferrari 430 Scuderia

Which is fastest - the Ducati Desmosedici RR or the Ferrari 430 Scuderia? Car fans will argue a supercar can out-brake and out-corner a bike, but ...
